Recent research shows grit is a vital trait to success. Being curious what my level of grit was, I went and took a test.
On a scale of 1-5, I scored a two.
To be honest, I found this shocking. I’ve been through hell and back, and I get a two for grit? How does that makes sense?
But it makes perfect sense. Grit does not equal adaptability.
I don’t believe in sticking with things that don’t make sense. I believe in learning, understanding, synthesizing, and moving on when it feels right. Why stick with something that doesn’t work? I could be gritty, or I could adapt.
Grit means you stick with something even when it’s difficult. Being able to adapt means you embrace change quickly. I’d rather try new things than attach myself to something relentlessly hoping it works down the road.
Thanks for writing this! I totally relate. I scored a 3. I was hoping after about 10 months working on mindset that my grit would increase. It didn’t. I also adapt. I’ve always figured out a way around and most people told me I was just escaping a situation I didn’t want to handle. That could be true. But I also could be finding a different way that works better for me. I like that take on it better
