I love being onstage. It’s the great love affair of my life. There’s something about dressing up I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow, and having the opportunity to bring joy to so many people I’ll never know is a gift.

Right now, I’m playing an ingenue in Ken Ludwig’s Leading Ladies at a local community theatre, and it’s been an incredible run. After another wonderful show, some of the cast and a few friends came over for a party. We talked around the fire until late, enjoying each other’s company while we recounted tales of ill fated love and nights of too much whisky and trying to avoid how soon we would all be split again in separate directions for who knows how many years.

But no gathering is complete without something to share. For a hearty appetizer to go with the fuel of the theatre – cheap beer and wine – you can’t go wrong with this easily doubled or tripled recipe.

Five Minute Hummus

  • 1 can of garbanzo beans
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Dash of salt
  • Lemon juice, to taste
  • Cumin, to taste
  • Top with paprika, if desired

Insert all ingredients into food processor until smoothly blended. Serve with seasonal vegetables and a sourdough baguette.

Eat and make merry.

A big ask – and lots to give.

Lately, I’ve been a little, um, emotional. Tapped out. Closer to fight or flight than I want to be. I kicked a foot-shaped dent into the side of some asshole’s Mini Cooper who tried to get me to get into his car. (I’m pro sex work/ers, but I’m real anti old white guys thinking everyone…

Fuck love and light.

Trigger warning: Woo woo bitches with no backbone taken to church below. I am very, very angry. I’ve been working online for the past 7+ years, and let me tell you, I never planned on being a marketer. Once upon a time, I just wrote. I shared the things I was learning in the hopes…

It took me 7 years to find sustainable success. How long will it take you?

I’ve been having a lot of great conversations with my colleagues about what it takes to be successful in business, especially around how long it takes. The common theme I’ve heard from people I respect and have watched grow alongside me is that it takes many of us 7 years. SEVEN YEARS?! I hear you…
